Michele Thornton 

Senior Vice President Media Sales, Centric TV

Michele Thornton is the Head of Television Sales for Centric TV and BET Soul. She joined Centric, a Viacom-BET Network Company, in July of 2012. Centric is a 24-hour African American lifestyle network designed for Black Women. She and her team are charged with growing the revenue base for the network. Thornton was instrumental in the rebranding of Centric as ‘The First Network Designed for Black Women.’ She recently took on the additional responsibility for BET Soul; an upscale network for a multi-dimensional dual audience. 

Prior to joining BET Networks, Michele was the SR. Director of Emerging Partnerships and led the CNN Advantage business group with sales across CNN, HLN, CNN Airport networks and cnn.com.

Bess Evans 

Associate Director and Senior Policy Advisor - White House Office of Public Engagement - White House Domestic Policy Council

Bess Evans serves as an Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement, where she manages outreach on the Affordable Care Act and the President’s ongoing efforts to ensure that hardworking Americans have the opportunity to succeed. 

Previously, Evans served as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of Science and Technology Policy, facilitating the White House’s engagement with the science, technology, and innovation community. There, she managed partnerships around high-impact portfolios including STEM education, resources for startups and high-growth entrepreneurs, youth jobs, climate, and the budget. Bess previously served at the Department of Justice in the Office on Violence Against Women and in the White House Visitors Office. 

Originally from Evanston, Illinois, she graduated from DePauw University, where she received the Walker Cup for her outstanding service to the University.


Sheila Robinson

Publisher & CEO - Diversity Woman Magazine

With more than 20 years in corporate America and the former Marketing Director in DuPont’s global textiles di- vision, Sheila has witnessed and experienced first hand the challenges and opportunities that exist for diverse and multicultural women in business. 

Her unique speaking style is designed to leave her audiences inspired and motivated even around sensitive subjects. She strongly believes in taking the positive out of any negative situation and is known for leaving her audiences mesmerized and empowered to turn any adverse situation into an opportunity through her topics on Diversity and Women’s Issues. 


Rakia Reynolds

Rakia Reynolds is the founder of Skai Blue Media, a multimedia communications agency with an all-star roster of lifestyle, technology, non-profit and fashion clients such as Uber, Forbes, Ashley Graham, Serena Williams, HSN, Ted Baker London, Campbell’s, Dell and Big Brothers Big Sisters to name a few. Noted as an influencer in the creative business industry, Reynolds is sought after by companies to provide expertise in creative development, branding and strategic communications. Reynolds was named one of the 25 tastemakers on Dell’s “Inspire 100” list, a list of the most socially influential people in the country. 

As a leader in the communications industry, Skai Blue Media provides business development, marketing, and message strategy to nonprofits, tech start-ups, and entrepreneurs. Reynolds’ path to entrepreneurship started with creative ventures, including a role producing shows for MTV, TLC and Discovery Health networks. Ultimately, she chose to create her own company that represents the future of public relations in the digital age.

Zoe Zeigler 

Senior Manager of integrated Marketing - Teen Vogue

Inventive. Driven. Savvy. Chic—All words associated with New York- based marketing expert and style maven, Zoé Zeigler. 

As senior manager of integrated marketing at Teen Vogue, Zoé spearheads custom advertising campaigns for top beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands. Previously, she served as assistant manager of integrated brand marketing for Toyota in North America where she led award-winning marketing initiatives. Her work has been recognized by The Today Show, The New York Times, AdWeek and more. 

A dedicated supporter of other women in business, Zoé is also executive director of ColorComm in New York City—the nation’s premiere professional organization specifically for women of color in communications, marketing and media. 

Known for her unique sense of style and her signature naturally curly hair, when Zoé is not in the office, you can find her blogging about style, beauty, and her everyday adventures in New York City as founder and editor of CurlzAndTheCity.com. With an ever-growing following, Zoé and her brand have been featured in Essence Magazine, The Fashion Bomb Daily and The Huffington Post. 

The Los Angeles native received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and holds a certificate in digital media marketing from New York University. 


Erin Wilson 

Director – Multicultural Business Development 

Innovation & Business Development - Macy’s

Erin Wilson is Director of Multicultural Merchandising and Vendor Development at Macy’s. She is responsible for sourcing business opportunities with diverse retail vendors and providing actionable insights on the multicultural customer. In 2011, Erin authored The Workshop at Macy’s, a preparatory program designed to give small diverse business owners tools to better succeed and sustain growth in the retail industry. Prior to joining her current division, Erin was an Associate Buyer in Ready-to-Wear at Macy’s West in San Francisco, California. Her career at Macy’s began as one of four executive trainees in a pilot rotational program within Macy’s Merchandising Group, where she rotated throughout five areas from product development to human resources every three months. 

 Erin graduated Summa Cum Laude with a dual concentration in marketing and retail from Syracuse University. She is a recipient of The Network Journal’s Forty under 40 honor and in February 2015, became a fellow in the New York City Fashion Fellows program.
